A Season: Lost in time
Design Project 3
2D
3D
Game Concept
Project Brief
Design a Game from a real life experience and conduct surveys
field research and come up with
a design brief from which a digital
game has to be design
My Goals
Explore 3D space
Cozy genre of games
A game about technical things
Narration
you play as a character "Noor"
who returns to her home townfor a break and a research program since she is tasked to
make a archival documentation
for inauguration of the museum.

Game Design
First Iteration
The topic which I wanted to work on was "Time".
Which gave me opportunity to explore "historical periods,
Time it self and time as a metaphor"I stuck to "Time" since I could explore all the other opportunities
within it.Further "HMT Watches" become my core topic as a brand to
explore since HMT was India one of the major industries on the
90s production watches, tractors and braille parts etc.
Primary Research
Day 1
Findings and observations
Started with exploratory research at ”HMT Watch Factory,
HMT watch store, HMT office & HMT museum

What I found after fielding research!
Factory closed in 2016 & no entry was given to outsiders as a movie shoot was going on
The factory structured had changed drastically over almost a decade.
post factory visit I went to the HMT shop in Jalahalli there i got to know that now they buy
watch parts from Japan and Indian businesses and don’t make there parts since 2016.the shop keeper at HMT guided me to the office for me to main watch office
where got to know that know know a brief history about HMT and the watch collection.
further got to know that HMT not only makes watch but also made tractors and brailles

Day 2
Findings and observations
Went to “HMT Watch Factory” for the 2nd time.
This time i was allowed in the area as the movie shoot was going on.
I thought it was a small shoot but to my surprising it was a shoot for a very big kannada film “KD, Devil”
The shoot had capacity of more than 500 people. which gave me an idea about how massive the place is as a factory.
the main area was occupied by massive set design for the film shoot so most of the photographs were take outside the shoot area
to put in focus the one factor place had 12 horses tide for the shooting purpose vanity and cars food stalls etc.

Day 3
Findings and observations
Now with a little more clarity and direction with my research, i went to the “HMT Watch museum” again with more clarity of what I want to take.
NOTEABLE OBSERVATION: the employee cornerImages for field visit

Day 4
Conclusion
Tried to reach out the old employees but failed as not track of previous employee was traced and
provided by the company.
but the context from working on time evolved from “Time, abandoned spaces & people”
Final conclusion
The major findings after primary research were focused onThe vast space of the HMT factory
The rich history
How HMT was a major contributor in Indian economy
how did the space become a major place for street art and protest
How the space was a training center and a major livelihood for 1000s of people

Concept 01
Short Synopsis: "Looking Back"
Set in the abandoned watch factory, players take on the role of an observer who can rewind time to uncover the factory’s past. As they explore the space, they witness its rise, decline through fragmented memories through the lens of workers who use to work there—conversations, What remains when time moves on?Concept 02
"Once a Time"
Setting: A once-thriving watch factory, now a ruin the daughter of the factory worker visits the factory in order to find clues about his missing dad who was a watch maker. Theme: Industrial rise and fall, human labor, and nature reclaiming space.Concept 03
"Timeless Workshop"
Setting: you are an archivist, who is making a documentation on A watch factory, he repairs objects in order to unlock the stories and visual documents.Concept 01

Key Takeaways
A game about technical things ✔️
Explore 3D space✔️
One major Learning during this Design Project I learnt is importance of research
and how it can lead to unexplored spaces and give meaning to mundane and little
when you start questioning
